The Common Entrance Paper
The paper consists of 3 papers. Physics, Chemistry and Biology.
Each paper is 40 minutes.
About 1/3 of each paper will consist of multiple choice or one-word answer questions which rely mostly on memory
About 1/3 will be short answers but require slightly more understanding
About 1/3 will be longer answers , graphical questions or diagrams
What you need to revise from
1. 1 set of Common Entrance papers
2. The red Revision Guide
3. Your Science Folder which contains amongst other things
i. Printed revision tests
ii. Words Used in Science
What you do can do
1. Answer the common
entrance papers.
You can look up information from the notes in your
Science Folder, the red Revision Guide or this site
2. Learn from the red Revision Guide
Remember that
ANYTHING from the Revision Guide or your Science Folder COULD come
up in the exam

Compounds: Page 44
Mixtures: Page 46 and 47
Metals and non-metals: Pages 48-51
Questions:. Page 53 Question numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 14,16, 21, 22, 24, 25, 28
Physical and chemical changes: Pages 54, 58, 59, 60
Questions:. Page 63 Question numbers 1, 2, 4, 5, 6, 9, 12, 13, 25, 28
Reactivity series: Pages 64 and 65
Acids and alkalis: Pages 68, 69, 70
Questions:. Page 73 Question numbers 10, 13, 17, 18, 19, 29
3. Practice by trying out the Science Quiz
(After loading the program select 'Open')
Print out the Question and answer sheet and
learn the answers to the questions
Other topics which are likely to appear in the exam:
It is always useful to know how to draw and read from a graph.
Graph questions are often worth a lot of marks
Use the red Revision Guide and try answering the questions at the end of each section.
Use the sheets of questions+answers you have been given and fill in as many answers as you can in the blank question sheets.
